Caring for Your Upholstery
Our upholstered pieces are made with care and crafted to last. With a little regular maintenance, they’ll stay comfortable and beautiful for years to come.
General Care
-
Vacuum weekly using the upholstery attachment to prevent dust build-up.
-
A soft, clean brush can also help lift dirt from arms, seams and pleats.
-
Avoid sitting on the edges or arms, which can affect the shape of both fabric and fill.
-
Take care with zips, studs or sharp clothing details, which may snag the fabric.
-
If a thread becomes loose, do not pull it – trim it gently with scissors.
Spot Cleaning
-
Blot spills straight away using a dry, clean cloth or absorbent paper towel.
-
Press gently – do not rub, scrub or add water.
-
Avoid using spirit-based cleaners, which may leave marks.
-
If you choose to use a fabric cleaner, always test it first on an unseen area.
-
When in doubt, we recommend calling a professional.
Cushion Care
-
Regularly plump and reshape seat, back and scatter cushions.
-
Rotate and flip them often to help maintain loft and even wear.
-
This prevents the fill from settling or migrating over time.
Fading and Light
-
Keep your upholstered pieces away from direct sunlight or strong heat sources.
-
Exposure over time can lead to fabric fading or changes in texture.
Velvet Specifics
-
Velvet is naturally sensitive to pressure and may show light marking.
-
Most pressure marks can be gently lifted with a soft brush or light steam.
Timber Legs
-
Wooden legs may vary slightly in grain and tone – a natural part of the material.
-
Wipe clean with a soft cloth as needed.
-
Avoid spray polish or solvent-based cleaners, which may damage the finish or fabric.
- Always avoid dragging upholstered items, lifting where possible to avoid damage to legs.
Professional Cleaning
-
For deep cleaning, we recommend a professional upholstery cleaner who can care for the fabric safely and thoroughly.
